Dementia & Aged Care Day Centres Inner West | Ella Centre

A warm, safe place for mature members of our community

The Ella Centre provides aged care social day programs and dementia support for mature members of our community in Sydney’s Inner West – including those living with younger onset and older age dementia.

Our programs offer company, activities, a hot meal and door-to-door transport, giving people a safe, enjoyable day out and giving carers time to rest and recharge.

  • Aged care social day centres for frail-aged people
  • Dementia support programs, including younger onset dementia
  • Door-to-door wheelchair-accessible transport
  • Morning tea, hot lunch and afternoon tea provided

Our Aged Care & Dementia Programs

Social Support Day Centres (Frail-Aged)

Our social day centres support older people who may be feeling isolated, unsteady on their feet, or simply keen for company and a change of scene.

On a typical day, people can enjoy:

  • Morning tea, a hot lunch and afternoon tea
  • Gentle group activities, games and quizzes
  • Music, art and themed days
  • Conversation and friendships
  • Occasional outings to parks, cafés or local events

Our aim is to help people stay socially connected, maintain their independence and feel part of their community for as long as possible.

Dementia Support (including Younger Onset Dementia)

We support people living with dementia – both older adults and those with younger onset dementia – through structured, small-group programs.

These programs focus on:

  • A calm, safe environment with familiar faces
  • Activities that stimulate memory, conversation and enjoyment
  • Gentle movement, music and sensory experiences
  • Respectful support with personal care if needed
  • Routine and predictability, which can reduce anxiety

We understand that every person’s dementia journey is different. Our staff work with families and carers to tailor support as needs change over time.

Support for Carers

Choosing a day program is often as much about support for the carer as it is about support for the person attending.

Ella’s aged care and dementia programs:

  • Provide regular, planned respite time
  • Include transport, meals and activities, so carers can truly rest
  • Offer opportunities for carers to talk with staff about how things are going

We also run information sessions and keep carers updated on program activities (see our carer engagement initiatives).
